Wedding Thoughts

For: Charles and Alexi
Occasion: their wedding

Charles and Alexi had me do their save the dates and wedding invites, so their actual wedding card was the last piece of art I got to create for their big day. I created a loving image of them in casual clothes, heads together and meditating on their love (with a big teal polka-dotted heart)! I had some fun with the coloring on this card; all the colors follow the lines of the design, and it looks so sharp. They had such a lovely ceremony, and I feel so honored to have been involved in my small way.

Path Wedding Invites

For: Charles and Alexi
Occasion: Wedding Invites

Charles and Alexi asked me to do their wedding invites (and save the dates), so we created this beautiful watercolor of aspen and wildflowers surrounding an unpaved path. I got to play with so many design ideas and was so pleased that we ended up going with with design. The cutout is very elegant too and fits perfectly with the beautiful ceremony they had.  (A big thank you to Anna McClane for placing the text!)

Goober Birthday

For: Goober
Occasion: his birthday

Goober doesn't love his nickname, but given that it's stuck around for nearly a decade, we think he's stuck with it. This year, to celebrate his birthday, I did a watercolor of a retro Goobers box and placed it over some chevron paper. I love the idea and the card; I hope Goober had an awesome day!

Comiskey Birthday

For: Ceci
Occasion: her birthday

Ceci, and most of her family, are die-hard Sox fans, so to help celebrate her birthday this year, I did an illustration of Comiskey Park's scoreboard (currently US Cellular Field, blech). It features some birthday touches, including a cake, balloons, and Miller's slogan updated to "It's Birthday Time." I hope Ceci has a great year and is able to catch a few games!

MSW Letters

For: Karly
Occasion: her MSW graduation

Karls is one of the most bubbly and wonderful people I know, and now she's a fellow MSW! To help celebrate her accomplishment, I created these gum drop people. The yellow one is wearing a mortarboard and holding the letters of her new degree and the little orange guy is looking on, impressed: "DAAAANG! Look at all those letters!" I'm so proud of Karls and had such a great time seeing her while she was out in Denver!

PTA Graduation

For: Ames
Occasion: graduation ceremony

Ames has worked so hard in her Physical Therapy Assistant program that I wanted to celebrate with a card. It features her doing some strengthening exercises (that I cleverly named "Quadripedal Graduation Raises) and reaching for her diploma. She's so close and I'm so proud of all the work she has done.

Baby Lady Bug

For: Emma
Occasion: her 1st birthday

Emma Ring turned one and we got to celebrate with some of Mike's extended family at a lovely party last weekend. Emma is an amazing little girl and we had a great time hanging out. We are looking forward to another year giggles and fun!

Tree Birthday

For: Terra
Occasion: her birthday

I love this card. Sketching out the tree but leaving the branches disconnected so I could fill in the space with colored leaves was a fun challenge. The leaves are bright and happy, and the scene looks so relaxing. Terra is simultaneously one of the calmest and funnest people I know, so this card is perfect for her. I hope she had a great birthday!

Hot Air Balloon Birthday

For: Christina
Occasion: her birthday

Christina is one of the most colorful people I know, so to help celebrate her birthday, I did a watercolor of a bird in bright pink or air balloon. I then cut it out and placed it over a watercolor background. Don't you love this look? I hope Christina had a great birthday and is looking forward to her fabulous wedding!

Crochet Head Birthday

For: Jess
Occasion: her birthday

Jess is very talented with a crochet hook, and to feature this hobby, I created a cartoon of her with skeins of yarn piled on her head. The colors are ultimately pretty '70s-y, and I really like them. We had so much fun celebrating Jess's birthday, and I can't wait to have she and O'Shea over for dinner again soon!

Tiki Birthday

For: Jen
Occasion: her birthday

Jen just had her honeymoon in Hawaii, so to help keep the party going, I created this happy-looking tiki man holding a birthday cake! I miss Jen so much and hope her wedding and honeymoon were everything she could have wanted.

Mother's Day Flower

For: Mom
Occasion: Mother's Day

My mom loves the color orange and gardens, so for her Mother's Day Card this year, I created a funky flower watercolor with some pen detailing. Sounds like she had a busy day in the garden, which is the perfect Mother's day for her!

Cheers Birthday

For: Lexi
Occasion: her birthday

To celebrate Lexi's birthday, I did a watercolor of two ladies' hands (with sweet nails and bracelets) cheersing their hip coffee mugs with their delicious beverages. I miss Lexi a lot and hope everything is going well for her in Chicago--she's one cool lady!

Swirly Text Birthday

For: Aunt Lauren
Occasion: her birthday

To help celebrate Aunt Lauren's big day, I busted out my micron pens and practiced my curlies and swirlies to create a beautiful birthday wish. I hope she and Uncle Tom had a great day!

Willie Maze Birthday

For: Luke
Occasion: his birthday

This card makes me laugh! An outline of a baseball play filled with a complicated maze. Who could it be other than Willie Mays in game form? Luke is a baseball player himself, so I hope he liked the joke.

Hip Bunny Birthday

For: Aunt Kelly
Occasion: her birthday

To celebrate Aunt Kelly's birthday, I had some fun with little pen dashes that make a bunny! It's wearing some hip purple glasses with rosy cheeks for Spring. I really like this design and hope Aunt Kelly is having a great Spring!
