Mountain Sympathy

 For: Sioux
Occasion: In Sympathy

Sweet Sioux's dad died, so to share my condolences I painted a blue watercolor of mountains beyond mountains. I'm so sad for Sioux and her whole family and hope they can find some peace during this awful time.

Sympathy Clouds

 For: Family
Occasion: In Sympathy

The day of my grandfather's funeral, there was an incredible Midwestern storm that created the most amazing cloud structures I have ever seen. To share sympathies with Mom and her siblings, I created this simple watercolor and "with sympathy" message. In a sad and beautiful way, it was lovely to get together with everyone to mark Grandpa's passing.

Cherry Tree Goodbye

For: a friend
Occasion: In Sympathy

To say goodbye to a friend and wish sympathies to his wife, I made a watercolor of his favorite tree. I am so sad that a kind soul passed on, and am grateful to have gotten to know him so well towards the end of his life.

Flower Sympathy

 For: A friend
Occasion: In Sympathy

My friend's mother died, and she gave me some of her mom's art papers as we were going through some of her belongings. To offer condolences and a remembrance, I cut out one of the floral designs and paired it with some colors that pull from the art. With a simple "so sorry" message, I hope this card offers some small comfort in a complicated time.

So Sorry Sympathy

 For: A Friend
Occasion: In Sympathy

To offer condolences to a friend on the death of their mother, I did a simple plant-themed sympathy card in golds and whites. It's tough out there and I hope my friend continues to ride the waves of whatever they feel.

Sympathy Flowers

 For: My Friends
Occasion: In Sympathy

Some dear friends of mine experienced a deep, deep loss. To share my sympathies, I created a simple watercolor card with some pink and purply flowers.. There really are no words, and so a card is the best we can do sometimes.

Sympathy Sun

For: Uncle Jim
 Occasion: In Sympathy

To send well wishes to my uncle in the wake of his loss, I made a simple watercolor of a sun, some mountains, and a red bird paired with a simple, "with sympathy" message. Losing someone is never easy, and I hope he is able to find some small peace during this time.

Bear Hug Sympathy

 For: A friend
Occasion: In Sympathy

A dear friend of mine lost someone very close to them unexpectedly. There's no sense to be made from this kind of loss, so a big teddy bear hug is the best I can offer. Grief is really painful and requires anyone going through it to be gentle and kind with themselves. Sending hugs to any and all who may need one.

Blue Sympathy

 For: Family
Occasion: In Sympathy

A relative's sister died, and so to send on wishes of support and love during this difficult time, I made this simple sympathy card in blues. I hope that the loss gets a little less painful with time.

Sympathy Flower

 For: A friend
Occasion: In Sympathy

A friend of mine lost their dear friend tragically and senselessly; to send a kind word to her and her family as they work through their grief, I painted an abstract flower in blues. Paired with a simple "with sympathy" message, this flower signifies the awful beauty that can come in the aftermath of a tragedy. I was honored to learn that the painting was shared with the widow and hope everyone affected finds solace in connecting with their loved ones.

Sympathy Blue

 For: A friend
Occasion: With Sympathy

A dear friend of mine experienced the unexpected death of a relative, and so to send him a warm thoughts I made a simple watercolor in blues with painted "with sympathy" message. Grief is so messy and confusing; I hope he continues to work through the tragic loss and finds a way of being that works for him.

A relative's brother died, and so to send our condolences, I drew a few dandelions shedding their seeds to the wind. I hope all who are affected by this death are able to find peace with time.

My loved ones' baby died, and in the face of such a heartbreaking tragedy, I could only create a simple card to let them know I'm thinking of them.

Sympathy Paws

For: Lex
Occasion: In Sympathy

The passing of a dog is the loss of a very special friend. To acknowledge the sadness of a family member's passing, I sent along this card with a paw print turned into a heart. I hope they are doing okay and that happy memories will provide comfort in time.

Sympathy Flowers

 For: The Walshes
Occasion: In Sympathy

Aunt Mary's mother passed away, so to share my condolences I created a somber sympathy card with some whimsical flowers. I know it has not been an easy road -- I hope there's some comfort in happy memories and good times had together. I was so happy that the weather out in Denver was nice for the services.

Thinking of You Sympathy

 For: Grandpa Jerry
Occasion: In Sympathy

My grandpa's twin brother passed away, and I am so, so sorry for it. Twins have a very special bond, and I can't fully comprehend what it would feel like to lose someone you've been through so much with. I hope Grandpa continues to take care and has a lifetime of happy memories to look back on for comfort.

Sympathy Flowers

For: Sharon
Occasion: a loved one's passing

Sharon lost someone she cared for deeply (and provided immense care for), so to extend my sympathy to her, I painted this simple sympathy card. It features a vase with a few flowers in it--both happy and sad at once. I used paint pens for this look, and I think it strikes the correct tone for the sad occasion. I hope with time happy memories are more prominent than the sad ones.

Sympathy Flower

For: Janet
Occasion: In Sympathy

Grandpa Jack passed away in late June, and so to honor his 97 years and the incredible life he fit into that time, I painted this ephemeral flower to pair with my sympathy message. These cards are never easy to create, but I really wanted to let Janet know how sorry we are for her loss and what an incredible daughter she has been to both Dotty and Jack.
