Relaxing Birthday

For: Violeta
Occasion: her birthday

Violeta longs for a relaxing life with chickens on some property, so for her birthday card I did an illustration of this idea with a hammock between two trees! I am so happy with it (I waffled back and forth between having a chicken in the hammock) and hope looking at it gives Violeta a few moments of peace.

Latte Birthday

For: Sandie
Occasion: her birthday

Sandie and I do our weekly one-on-ones (non-clinical language for supervision) at a coffee shop, so for her birthday card this year I featured one of her typical drink orders! My favorite detail is the pattern reflected on the bottom of the glass; I have to tell you, I have a whole new respect for baristas and their ability to do latte art--I could hardly recreate it!

Cupcake Climb Birthday

For: Sharon
Occasion: her birthday

Sharon is a super active addition to the team at work, so for her birthday card, I did an illustration of a climber using sprinkles as hand-holds on a cupcake! I am such a big fan of this card and so proud of the design!

Happy Birthday

For: Molly
Occasion: her birthday

For Molly's birthday card this year, I tried to draw the happiest face I could muster! I ended up with this image of joy underneath a "Happy Birthday!" exclamation. I really like how this card turned out--it's got a Muppets vibe almost! Hope Molls had a great day and is ready for whatever this year brings.

Shark Birthday

For: Uncle Joel
Occasion: his birthday

Uncle Joel's initials are JAW, and so I was feeling a shark theme for this year's birthday card! I saw something like this once upon a time, and did my best to capture a shark about to eat all the cupcakes. I appreciate the detail that the candle for the cupcake in Sharky's mouth has gone out. This was really fun to make, and I hope UJ had a great day!

New Job Bunny

For: Shylee
Occasion: Congratulations

Shylee got a new job, and though we are sad to lose her, I am happy that she's excited about her next steps! To help celebrate, I created an illustration of the flopsiest angora rabbit I could muster. Shylee has a whole host of angora rabbits that she raises and uses their wool for fiber crafts! How cool is that? Here's hopping Shylee's future is bright!

Golf Birthday

For: Jimmy
Occasion: his birthday

For Jimmy's birthday card, I did a watercolor of a golfer compiled of smaller geometric shapes! I am pretty pleased with how fun this card turned out -- look at those fun summer colors! It was so fun to hear from Jimmy, and I was delighted to learn that he has a golf shirt that he says looks just like this one!

Yoga Cat Birthday

For: Domi
Occasion: her birthday

For Domi's birthday card, I created a happy cat doing some yoga (tree pose!) in a birthday hat. I used bright and fun colors and tried to give the cat the calmest smile I could. I hope Domi had an amazing birthday and finds all kinds of peace this year.

Thousand Island Thank You

For: Janet and Dan
Occasion: Thank You

To thank my in-laws for another wonderful week up at The River, I did a watercolor of Thousand Island Park's iconic colorful boathouses. This card is one in a series of many that I've created to capture the beautiful scenes that are present up near Dan and Janet's home. We had a lovely time and are already looking forward to next year.

Cycling Carrier Birthday

For: Mollie
Occasion: her birthday

Mollie recently got a carrier attachment for her bike to cart her dog Moose around, so I decided to feature the set-up in her birthday card this year. (I swapped out Moose for a cupcake though, since it is a birthday card!) Mollie is a really delightful friend and I wish her nothing but the best this year!

Lighthouse Birthday

For: Aimee
Occasion: her birthday

Aimee grew up going to Maine and has a serious love for that part of the world (which includes a lighthouse tattoo). For her birthday card this year, I adapted a tatoo-esque design with a moon, sunset, and lighthouse. I am particularly pleased with how the water came out (thanks, watercolor!). Aimee is so much fun and we had a great time celebrating with her!

CO Beer Birthday

For: Adam
Occasion: his birthday

Adam is a Colorado native, so to celebrate his birthday this year I threw the state flag on a beer glass! I am really pleased with how this turned out and hope Adam gets to relax with a few cold ones on his big day.

Sun Moon Birthday

For: Elly
Occasion: her birthday

To celebrate Elly's birthday, I used a metallic gold marker on teal cardstock to create this lovely, swirly sun/moon/clouds in a circle shape card. Elly is such a cool person and I am super happy to be her cousin!

Running Birthday

For: Jack
Occasion: his birthday

To celebrate Jack's birthday, I did an illustration of him running down a path! He's really moving here, and I love the angles that I got to play with here (and added in a simple shadow, which I love!). Jack is quite a runner (I think he accidentally ran a half marathon last summer) and I hope he gets lots of great long runs in this year as well.
