Friends Birthday

For: Jackie
Occasion: her birthday

Jackie is a big Friends fan, so for her birthday card this year, I featured Monica's iconic door with the iconic frame around the peep hole. I used the Friends font to spell out a Happy Birthday message--how cute did this card turn out? I miss Jackie so much and hope she has a great day!

Puppy Angel

For: Becky and Mark
Occasion: In Sympathy

Sweet Roxy has passed on, and I made this sympathy card to help the Currys with their next chapter. It really helped me to think of Roxy up in heaven playing with a baby angel, so that's what I drew--she had a great life and will be missed by all.

Aviator Birthday

For: Joe
Occasion: his birthday

When I think of Joe, I think of rock bands, red hair, and aviators. I decided to try my hand at the latter in bright watercolors to help celebrate the big 2-8 this year. I think it turned out pretty cool! I hope Joe has a great day and gets to go to some awesome shows this year.

Hamilton Birthday

For: Lydia
Occasion: her birthday

Lydia is an amazing singer. I can't overstate it (check her singing "Burn" from Hamilton here). For her birthday card this year (senior year!), I modified the Hamilton playbill image by giving Hamilton a birthday hat and changing "Hamilton An American Musical" to "Happy Birthday." I love Hamilton, I love this card, and I love Lydia so much. I hope she has the very best birthday and that everything amazing comes her way this year.  I can't wait to see what she does ("Just you wait, just you waaiiiiit").

Boo Birthday

For: Charlie
Occasion: his birthday

Mike's nephew is another year older, and to celebrate, I did a drawing of Boo (renowned as the world's cutest dog) coming out of a gift box with a party hat on and barking for some birthday cake. I had seen several photos of Charlie with a stuffed Boo, and figured he might like if his buddy wished him a happy birthday--too cute. I hope Charlie had a great day and got to enjoy lots of cake!

Robot Welcome

For: Will
Occasion: Welcome Back

My boss was gone on a long vacation, and then he had a medical stay-cation involving a surgery wherein he got a screw put in his mouth. To honor his triumphant return, I dew him as a robot (notice the glasses and heart) holding a screw on a platter. The text reads "One Less Screw Loose," which was a joke my coworker had come up with. Unfortunately the picture is blurry (and the card itself was a rushed 10 minutes), but I really love how it came out! I am so glad Will is back, and can't wait for what this year has in store for the team.

Silly Pup Card

For: Lexi
Occasion: her birthday

Lexi's dog Emma is the goofiest girl I know, so for Lexi's birthday card this year, I did an illustration of the spunky golden-doodle wearing a birthday hat and with a cupcake dog tag. I love how the As in the text are paw prints (how did I not think of that before?). Lexi is such an amazing friend, and I can't wait to see what the big 3-0 has in store for her--all good things, I hope!

Paw Patrol Birthday

For: William
Occasion: his birthday

Mike's cousin's son William turned four yesterday, and we were invited to the family birthday party! To help him celebrate the big day, I drew some of the dogs from Paw Patrol and paired them with a "Happy Birthday William" message in the show's font. Based on all the Paw Patrol gifts William, got, I'd say the card was perfectly on theme!

Stacking Doll Sto Lat

For: Grandma Carol
Occasion: her birthday

To celebrate my grandma's birthday this year, I featured a set of stacking dolls in a colorful version of Polish traditional outfits. I remember first discovering stacking dolls at my grandma's house when I was younger, and it blew my mind. Coupled with the Polish birthday wish, "Sto lat!" this card came out very fun and festive. I hope Grandma has a wonderful day!

Flamenco Birthday

For: Corinne
Occasion: her birthday

Corinne went to Spain with her husband last September for an awesome vacation, so for her birthday card this year, I featured two flamenco dancers holding a Feliz Cumpleanos banner. I love, love, love how this card came out. The dancers look so elegant and their dresses are such vivid colors--it really captures the energy of dance! I hope Corinne has an amazing day and gets to do a little dancing herself if she wants to!

Clown Car Birthday

For: Grandpa Jim
Occasion: his birthday

My grandfather has eight children, so when I saw an image similar to this one, I knew I had to adapt it for his birthday card. It features Gramps behind the wheel with various people crammed in his car at all angles. I used blues and greens for my color scheme, and I could not be happier with how this card came out. I hope Grandpa had a great day and didn't have to chauffeur if he didn't want to!

Zen Doodle Dog

For: Jada
Occasion: her birthday

For Jada's birthday, I did a drawing of her pup Sadie all ready to be colored! Jada spends her free time at work coloring elaborate pictures (she's an amazing adult coloring book enthusiast), so to help celebrate her big day, I thought she could use another image to fill in. It was really fun making this card, and if Jada colored it in, I hope it was a relaxing experience for her.

Mini Birthday

For: Uncle Vince
Occasion: his birthday

My Uncle Vince is one of the coolest people I know. When it came time to make his birthday card, I was thinking about how I wish I could miniaturize him and keep him in my pocket so we could hang out all the time. From that thought came this fun-size portrait of him wearing a birthday hat! It looks so much like him I can't even handle it. I hope Uncle Vince has a great day and enjoys a full-size year!
