My Dad Father's Day

For: My dad
Occasion: Father's Day

Little kids have the best arguments about their dads, à la "Oh yeah? Well my dad is stronger than your dad!" To honor my dearest dad this Father's day, I ran with this idea. The card features a boxer and these words: "My dad could beat up your dad*" with the asterisk leading to "But he never would because he's way nicer than your dad." I love my dad more than is reasonable and I hope he stays out of fights at least until that shoulder heals!

Brimstone Birthday

For: Nathan
Occasion: his birthday

To help celebrate Nathan's birthday, I did the cutest rendition I could of the scary tongue monster from Shadows of Brimstone. Atop every nasty tongue there is a birthday cake. He's got a balloon tied to his wrist. His scary eyes are full of wonder.
Here's the original:

I prefer mine, if I can say so myself.

I hope Nathan had a fantastic birthday and I can't wait to see him in July!

Northern Lights Birthday

For: Kathleen
Occasion: her birthday

Kathleen recently took an awesome Nordic vacation and got to see the Northern Lights! Since that is the coolest thing ever, I decided to bust out my watercolors and try to capture the scene for her birthday card. I hope everything is going great with Dr. Kathleen and that LA is treating her well!

Mazel Tov Floral Wedding

For: Alli and Mark
Occasion: their wedding

Alli and Mark's long-awaited wedding was this weekend, and to help them celebrate the big day, I created a card featuring some beautiful purple flowers with a swirly "Mazel Tov!" greeting. Their wedding was so much fun (and included some cool Jewish elements, including the Hora chair dance!) and Mike and I had a really great time getting to meet Mark's family and friends while catching up with the Keane crew. We wish Alli and Mark all the best and joy and happiness for years to come!

Beach Birthday

For: Grandma Dotty
Occasion: her birthday

To help celebrate Grandma Dotty's 92nd birthday, I created an illustration of a woman reading a book on the beach wearing some awesome 1920s-ish clothes. (I love the hat ribbons--how awesome!) I'm so glad Dotty and Jack get to go up to The River this year--and on her birthday no less! It was such a joy to see Dotty at the wedding and I hope this year brings her all kinds of joy and happiness.

Kayak Birthday

For: Karly
Occasion: her birthday

Karly has gotten big into kayaking since she met her boyfriend, so to celebrate her birthday this year, I created a watercolor of her kayaking into the sunset. I love how this looks, and was so glad to get another chance to use Karly's signature color: pink! I hope Karls had a great day and that things are going great at her new job.

Elephant Birthday

For: Kathy
Occasion: her birthday

For Kathy's birthday card, I did a watercolor of a little elephant holding a flower; I then went over the watercolor with some pen detailing and used that to create the ground on the card stock. Ultimately, it became a lovely card! I love how it looks, I love elephants, and of course I love Kathy and hope to see her soon!

Mouse Birthday

For: Riley
Occasion: her birthday

For Riley's birthday card, I created  cute little mouse holding a piece of birthday cake and wearing a polka-dotted party hat. This card is really cute! I hope Riley had a great day and is looking forward to an awesome summer!

Three Pointer Anniversary

For: Mike
Occasion: Our Anniversary

Mike and I have been together for three years, and coincidentally have been watching a lot of basketball lately, so for our anniversary card, Mike is about to sink a heart-shaped ball from the three-point line! "Keane for 3" is booming out over the loudspeaker and Mike is wearing his lucky maroon shorts. I love him so much and can't wait for many more years together.

Good Luck Unicorn

For: Richardson
Occasion: Iron Man

Chris has a real penchant for unicorns pooping rainbows, so to help cheer him on in his big race, I created one just for luck. It got there just in time and it sounds like Chris crushed the event, which is not surprising at all given how hard he trained. I'm so proud of him and can't wait to crush the Triple together next month!

Bird Birthday

For: Lydia
Occasion: her birthday

This year, I made Lydia a colorful and cooly patterned bird to help celebrate her birthday. I really like this design and hope Lydia is having a great summer so far!

Flamingo Birthday

For: Aunt Sioux
Occasion: her birthday

Aunt Sioux loves the beach, so to help celebrate her big day this year, I made her a partying flamingo!  I got to use my fancy colored pencils for that pop of color on the teal and filled in the background with some teal circles and scribbles for monochromatic fun. I hope Sioux had a great day and is looking forward to an amazing year!

Birthday Butterfly

For: Jess
Occasion: her birthday

To celebrate Jess's birthday this year, I created a delicate watercolor butterfly and set it over some light purple watercolor paper. Jess is a really wonderful human being, deserving of all good things on her birthday and every day. I love and miss her so much and can't wait for our Colorado trip in the fall!

Birthday Tulips

For: Janet
Occasion: her birthday

To help celebrate Janet's birthday, I did a watercolor of some beautiful summer tulips in a mason jar. While we were in New York in April, Janet had mentioned that tulips were her favorite flower, so I locked that tidbit away in the Debbie Dots vault and featured it in her card. I am sure she had a fabulous day (touring Europe--how could you not?) and I can't wait to see her this weekend at the wedding!
