Brittany and Marcellus welcomed sweet Naomi to the world! To help celebrate, I made this elaborate fold card. The front features a very pregnant Britney...

And when you open it up, you see big brother Adley on a bike and Marcellus pushing Naomi in the stroller that matches Britany's shirt! The banner reads "Welcome Home, Naomi!" 

This card was so fun to make and I am beyond delighted that they loved it so well!

How Are You Feeling Get Well

Occasion: Get Well Soon

A friend of mine got some truly stupid health news, and as I tried to imagine her reaction to all of it, I got struck with this roller coaster of emotion faces. Imagining her various reactions, I circled all of them in red and added some emphasis where appropriate. I really hope she is doing well and knows we are all in her corner!

Cone Birthday

 For: Mark
Occasion: his birthday

Mark is a big ice cream fan! For his birthday card, I played on the conical shape of the ice cream cone and the party hat to give us this balanced image: Mark licking his lips looking at a giant and tasty cone! This card concept was really fun to come up with, and I give Mike credit for helping with ideas for the brother-in-law (Mike is a low-key card concept genius, y'all). Here's hoping Mark had a tasty flavor for his birthday!

Lego Name Birthday

 For: Emma
Occasion: her birthday

I created Emma's name in Lego blocks for her birthday! I had so much fun thinking through how to construct the letters and really enjoyed coloring in my creation. I am a huge fan of Legos and hope Emma liked hers on her birthday!

Sun Birthday

 For: Anna
Occasion: her birthday

To celebrate Anna's birthday, I used my gold marker on navy cardstock to illustrate this very cool geographic sun! I love the pop of the teal eyes--so neat, right? With "Happy" and "Birthday" nestled in the rays, this design makes my art brain happy -- I hope it does the same for her!

Happy Cupcake

Occasion: his birthday

For Max's birthday, I did an illustration of the happiest little cupcake I have ever seen. I am a particular fan of the shading in the folds of the frosting and the cupcake holder. I hope Max had a great day and am looking forward to coming up to hike with him and the fam this summer!

Ship Birthday

 For: Dan
Occasion: his birthday

At The River, the kids have a game of "calling" the ships they see on the St. Lawrence first. As a nod to this funny tradition, I drew a simple USS Dan ship and paired it with a cheeky, "Oh Ship! It's your birthday!" message. Here's hoping the day was amazing and Dan won every game he played!

French Birthday

 For: Aunt Helena
Occasion: her birthday

Aunt Helena was overseas celebrating her birthday en France, and therefore I created a French themed birthday card! It features the "Bonne Fête!" wish that she have a great celebration along with a stylized cake, some hearts, and a blue, red, and white banner. J'aime ce carte de voeux and hope Aunt Helena had an incredible day!

Mary Poppins Birthday

 For: Dad
Occasion: his birthday

My dearest dad likes to watch Mary Poppins each year on his birthday, and so to celebrate this wonderful tradition, I did an illustration of the iconic hat and umbrella among the clouds. The text reads, "Have a supercalifragilisticexpialidocious birthday!" I love my dad so and am glad he did have a wonderful day!

Sorry Clouds

 For: Uncle Jim
Occasion: In Sympathy

Uncle Jim had another relative die, and to send more well wishes and condolences, I created a simple illustration of clouds with silver rain and a "so sorry" message. I hope he is doing okay and surrounded with loved ones and good memories.

Birthday Banner

For Joel's birthday card this year, I used a couple different styles of fonts and lines and pens and brought together this "Happy Birthday to you" message with a fun doodle vibe. I hope Joel has a great day and is looking forward to a spring of fun!

Peeps Birthday

Mom loves Peeps, and given that her big day was super close to Easter this year, I mashed up the two concepts and drew a marshmallow bunny and chick wearing little party hats. I hope she felt appropriately celebrated among the other festivities and even had a birthday Peep or too!

Lego Birthday

Occasion: his birthday

Shia loves Legos and has a really fun collection of really complicated ones that I love to play with whenever we get to hang out. For his birthday card this year, I did an illustration of a classic lego man wearing a party hat and a big celebratory smile. I am a particular fan of the plastic shine on these Lego pieces, y'all! I hope Shi-Shi has the best birthday and we get to hang out again soon!

Skiing Birthday

 For: Kasicki
Occasion: his birthday 

To commemorate that epic time we skied together, I drew Kasicki a winter scene with HBD skis pointed towards some festive trees (Look! That one has a party hat on!). I hope Kasick had an awesome birthday however he got to celebrate!

Headstock Birthday

Occasion: his birthday

For JP's birthday card, I did an illustration of a guitar headstock (the top bit with the tuning pegs) as fingers making the universally understood "rock on" symbol. This card is pretty cool, I think! I miss JP a lot and hope he has a wonderful birthday!

Foam Finger Birthday

Occasion: his 1st birthday 

The sweetest little munchkin just turned one! To celebrate his birthday, I made an illustration of a foam finger that reads "GIO" and "#1." I really love this card concept, but more than that, was so happy to see this little friend so close to his birthday!
