70s birthday

For: Dan
Occasion: his birthday

My f-i-l turned the big 7-0, so to celebrate his big day I did a '70s throw-back card! It features a young man (looks a lot like Dan, if I do say so myself) boogying down to some music in an awesome retro outfit -- check out those pants! I hope Dan enjoyed his big day and I can't wait to see him soon!

Birthday Cake

For: Jill
Occasion: her birthday

To celebrate Jill's big day, I did a drawing of a lovely piece of cake -- four layers! Each layer has part of the birthday message "Happy birthday to you," which would be quite the surprise when cutting a slice. Jill is great and I hope she had a lovely birthday!

Birthday Balloon

For: Roberta
Occasion: her birthday

My team's newest employee had a birthday recently, so to celebrate and welcome her, I did a fun paper cut of a balloon! I am a particular fan of the outline on the string. I hope Roberta had a great day and am happy that she's on the team!

Kid Birthday

For: Uncle Brian
Occasion: his birthday

For Uncle Brian's birthday card this year, I did a stylized drawing of him as a kid carrying his very own birthday cake. I really love how this turned out, and I hope the next year is relatively worry-free, like when he was a kid!

Ticket Birthday

For: Jeremy
Occasion: his birthday

For Jeremy's birthday, I did a drawing of a raffle ticket that I changed for some birthday fun! The winning number is 02212019, which happens to be Jeremy's birthday this year. I took the photo with the card facing the wrong direction, so the picture is a little trippy, but I really like it better this way!

D&D Birthday

For: Chas
Occasion: his birthday

Chas has gotten into Dungeons and Dragons recently, so for his birthday card this year, I did a watercolor of the awesome new logo! A dungeon in an ampersand shape? Awesome. I hope Chas had a great birthday and is looking forward to a lot of awesome campaigns this year.

Animal Video Valentine

For: Michael
Occasion: Valentine's Day

Mike is really great at showing me cute animal videos when I am stressed, so I featured this cute quirk of our relationship in this year's valentine. Look at all those animal eyes! I'm glad my forever-Valentine liked this card (particularly the penguin) and can't wait for a lifetime of silly cards together.

Tattoo Valentine

For: Mom and Dad
Occasion: Valentine's Day

For Mom and Dad's valentine this year, I drew a picture of a hand in the ASL "I love you" sign that shows off matching Mom and Dad heart tattoos on the wrist. This idea came to me in a flash and I am so, so pleased with how it turned out. I love my parents so much and can't wait to see them in the coming months!

Archery Valentine

For: Amy
Occasion: Valentine's Day

To celebrate Valentine's Day this year, I did a watercolor of a heart-shaped target that Ames got a bullseye on! She got a new bow recently and is kicking some serious archery butt--I'm glad she liked this card so much!

Snoopy Valentine

For: Christy and Nathan
Occasion: Valentine's Day

Christy and Nathan love Snoopy, so for their Valentine this year I did a drawing of the pup hugging a heart! Look at how cute and happy it turned out. I paired it with a heart watercolor background to help get some extra love in there. I think Charles Schulz would be pleased with the effort.

Mr. Cow Valentine

For: Baby Adam
Occasion: Valentine's Day

Adam has a great floppy cow called "Mr. Cow" who has a theme-song attached to his antics (written and performed by The Twin). The song ends with "I love you moo!" so I drew Mr. Cow with special heart spots in front of the lyrics. I love my little nephew so and can't wait to snuggle him soon!

Mountain Birthday

For: Debby
Occasion: her birthday

Debby is such an incredible colleague, I wanted to honor her birthday with a beautiful Colorado scene! I found out later that she does not celebrate her birthday (whoops!) but don't mind having shared with her how wonderful she is.

Grill Birthday

For: Ben
Occasion: his birthday

Ben is basically a grill master, so for his birthday card this year, I did a drawing of a classic grill with some classic flames bursting forth! Paired with a lime green "Happy Birthday" message, this card looks super sharp. I hope Ben had a great day and gets to feast on some tasty bbq this year!

Rubik's Cube Birthday

For: Dylan
Occasion: his birthday

Dylan is a really fun kid, and when it came to making his birthday card this year, I couldn't shake a Rubik's cube vibe! I decided to go for it and ended up with this unique drawing. I love the colors and the shapes -- it's definitely a different style for Debbie Dots but is pretty cool! I hope Dyls had a great day and enjoyed his party.

Guitar Birthday

For: Danny
Occasion: his birthday

Danny is a big music fan now, so for his birthday card this year I did a drawing of a colorful guitar! (Is it electric? Is it acoustic? It's one of a kind for sure!) The fun feature of this card is the shiny metallic stickers that decorate it. I hope Danny had a great day and gets to listen to some and play some great stuff this year.

Painting Birthday

For: Jeannine
Occasion: her birthday

Jeannine is very creative and has taken up painting in the past few years as a creative outlet. To celebrate her big day, I did a watercolor pen sketch of her hard at work at an easel! I love the look of this card, and am particularly pleased with how her hair turned out. I hope Jeannine makes lots of beautiful art this year!

Cubs Hat Birthday

For: Uncle John
Occasion: his birthday

Uncle John is a Cubs fan, but since he lives in Ohio, he probably doesn't see Cubbie blue as much as he might want to. To remedy this, I drew a stylized Cubs hat in front of the iconic red C. I am really pleased with how this turned out and can't wait to see Uncle John and crew in a few weeks!
