Homerun Birthday

 For: Dan
Occasion: his birthday

Dan is a big baseball fan, so for this birthday card I drew a ball that got hit so far it's out of this world! The text reads, "Hope your birthday is a HOMERUN!" I really like the scale of the ball to the Earth in this design. It was great to catch up with Dan on his birthday and I hope he enjoyed himself!

Birdie Told Me Birthday

 For: Lila
Occasion: her birthday

For Lila's birthday card, I did an illustration of a little bird on an old-style phone with purple polka dots. The text reads, "a little birdie told me... it's your birthday!" Lila is so lovely and I hope she had a wonderful day!

Mayo Birthday

 For: Uncle Brian
Occasion: his birthday

I have a distinct memory of Uncle Brian eating macaroni salad sandwiches when I was young, and so when I came across a mayo-themed birthday pun, I figured this card might do the trick! "Mayo birthday wishes come true" is the punny message. I hope Uncle Bri had a wonderful day and got to eat exactly what he wanted to celebrate!

Foam Finger Birthday

 For: Jeremy
Occasion: his birthday

For Jeremy's birthday card this year, I did an illustration of a cupcake with a "we're number one!" foam finger and party hat! Jeremy is a big sports fan, so I figured this was a lovely way to birthday-up a game day celebration. I hope Jeremy et al are doing well and have a great time celebrating!

Bear Birthday

 For: Chas

Peace Fingers Birthday

 For: Jen
Occasion: her birthday

Jen is a connoisseur of summer music festivals, so for her birthday card this year, I tried to capture that vibe with a hand in the peace sign wearing some bracelets in a swirly pattern. Jen is just a really cool lady and it was so fun to celebrate her birthday today! I hope this next year is amazing with lots of fun shows.

Maya Ruins Valentine

 For: Mike
Occasion: Valentine's Day

Mike and I were in Mexico over Valentine's Day on our first ever vacation! To celebrate both events, I drew my interpretation of a Maya representation of the Maquech beetle, which is integral to an ancient love myth. We had a lot of fun exploring some ancient ruins and I hoped this card would help us capture the memories.

Lollipop Valentine

 For: Adam
Occasion: Valentine's Day

For Adam's valentine this year, I did a watercolor of a heart-shaped sucker, and then added some see-through plastic and white line edging to make it look super realistic. I love how this card turned out! I hope he got lots of candies and snacks at school and is feeling the love today.

Donut Valentine

 For: Owen
Occasion: Valentine's Day

Sweet O loves donuts, so for his valentine, I did a watercolor of an (O-shaped) donut with lots of heart and festive sprinkles! I adore my little bud and hope he got lots of treats today!

Space Valentine

 For: Christy and Nathan
Occasion: Valentine's Day

Twin and Nathan love outer space shows lately! And to celebrate this fandom in a not spooky way, I drew two space folks waving at each other as they float through the ether with lots of heart-shaped celestials and rocket fuel. I love these two so much and hope to hang out with them soon!

Cat Valentine

 For: Amy and Alex
Occasion: Valentine's Day

Amy and Alex are pretty big fans of their cat, so to help celebrate the holiday this year, I did a simple illustration of a black cat wearing a glittery heart headband. I love the simplicity of this design! I hope A&A had a great time celebrating their first Valentine's Day as an engaged couple.

Angle Valentine

 For: Mom and Dad
Occasion: Valentine's Day

For my parents' valentine this year, I leaned into a math joke: "acute angle" with the bashful little friend saying "Aw, shucks!" If there were ever a duo to enjoy a math pun, it's these two (or at least Mom!). I love the 'rentals so and hope they have a happy love day.

Camping Birthday

 For: Ben
Occasion: his birthday

Ben has gone on a handful of camping trips in recent years, so to celebrate that and his birthday, I did an illustration of a mountainous camp scene. "Happy Birthday" is written in the stars, and the marshmallow being roasted has some impeccable early-roast shading, if you don't mind my saying so. I hope Ben has a great birthday and lots of fun adventures this year!

Balloon Head Birthday

 For: Dylan
Occasion: his birthday

To help celebrate Dylan's birthday, I did an illustration of him holding a balloon! A modern, birthday-themed take on a classic surrealist style, this image is just delightful to me. I hope Dyls has a wonderful day and gets to do all kinds of fun stuff!

Record Player Birthday

 For: Danny
Occasion: his birthday

Danny is a fan of classic rock, so for his birthday card this year, I did an illustration of a record player to help mark the big day. I hope Danny had a wonderful day and is looking forward to a great year of music and more!

Spa Birthday

 For: Jeannine
Occasion: her birthday

For Jeannine's birthday card this year, I did an illustration of her in a relaxing spa getup with a green face mask! I love the calming, self-care energy of this card and hope this year brings some opportunities for relaxation among all the busy-ness!

Retro TV Birthday

 For: Uncle John
Occasion: his birthday

To help Uncle John celebrate his birthday, I did a drawing of a cool retro TV with SMPTE colors and an important message: "Happy Birthday!" I hope my uncle has a lovely day. It's been nice connecting with him a bit this past year, and I hope this next year is a lot better than the last!
