Wine Dive Birthday

For: Alli
Occasion: her birthday

To celebrate Alli's birthday, I did a watercolor of a wine glass full of a delicious red. On the rim is a tiny Alli, ready to dive in! After pregnancy and breastfeeding, I'm sure Alli is ready to relax with a well-deserved glass or two. I hope she had a great birthday and got some time to enjoy her day.

Bear Birthday

For: Zach
Occasion: his birthday

For Zach's birthday, I did a collage of different green papers to create a bear. I think this looks so cool and hope to use the idea again! Zach is a really cool dude and I hope he's having a great summer with lots of adventures (that don't involve close encounters with any bears!).

Macaron Birthday

For: Eileen
Occasion: her birthday

Eileen is abroad in Germany this semester, and Amy got to visit her, which is super cool! Ames reported that they found some great macarons and that Eileen really enjoyed them--to help celebrate her birthday and this epic adventure, I created a watercolor of the tasty treats! I was so impressed that the card got to Eileen on her birthday--I hope she had a wonderful day!

Coke Bottle Birthday

For: Becky
Occasion: her birthday

To help celebrate Becky's birthday, I did a watercolor of a Coke bottle (to complement her Coke-themed kitchen!). I am so thrilled with how it came out and am glad Becky liked it too! I hope she is having a wonderful summer and getting lots of boat time in.

New Baby Moon

For: Lexi and Matt
Occasion: Baby Giuliana's birth

Baby Jules was born on June 20th and she is just the sweetest little baby! To help welcome her to the world, I made this watercolor of her snuggling a moon. I got to meet her during her first 24 hours and am so excited to be Auntie Debra!

Tea Birthday

For: Will
Occasion: his birthday

Will loves tea and is known to drink a mug or two in his day. To celebrate his birthday, I designed a neat watercolor mug full of a black tea (with the teabag still inside!). I really like how this came out and am glad Will had a good birthday.

Sandhill Crane Father's Day

For: My Dad
Occasion: Father's Day

For my dad's Father's Day card, I did a papercut of a Sandhill Crane, the most important bird to the Lombard Walsh clan. I really love how hopeful and majestic the crane looks. My dad is the very best dad and I hope he felt the love this Father's Day.

Cheers Father's Day

For: Mark
Occasion: Father's Day

Since Mark is a new father of twins, I created this playful illustration to help him celebrate his first Father's Day (which I'm sure could not include a break from feeding). The font is based off the TV show Cheers sign and the bottles are just funny. I hope the first few months of parenting have been great and I can't wait to meet the little guys!

Fish Father's Day

For: Dan
Occasion: Father's Day

Dan is up at The River again this year, and apparently the water is super high! To celebrate Father's Day, I did a drawing of several brightly colored fish all coming together, presumably to nab a bit of food on the end of a line. I could not have asked for a better father-in-law, and I hope Dan felt appropriately celebrated today!

Super Hero Father's Day

For: Nathan
Occasion: Father's Day

For Nathan's Father's Day card, I did my best to have a comic book-style "Ka-Pow!" or "Wazap!" type illustration around the "Happy Father's Day!" message. I think it turned out pretty well and hope Nathan enjoyed his special day.

Majora's Mask Birthday

For: Nathan
Occasion: his birthday

To celebrate Nathan's 30th birthday, I did a watercolor of something from the Legend of Zelda called Majora's mask! I am not super familiar, but loved the bright colors (and was pleased that Mike recognized it for what it was when I showed him). My brother-in-law is such a wonderful human and I was happy to hear that he liked the card!

Mandala Birthday

For: Kathleen
Occasion: her birthday

For Kathleen's birthday card, I tried to capture and energetic peace, which landed me on this very vibrant mandala! It's been such a long time since I used so many little dots, and it was a lot of fun to lean in and do them all again. I hope Kathleen is having a wonderful summer and enjoyed her birthday and her card!

Watering Can Birthday

For: Marilynne
Occasion: her birthday

To help celebrate's Marilynne's birthday and the onset of gardening season, I created this illustration of a watering can full of beautiful pink flowers! Marilynne loves her garden (it's really impressive) and I'm glad that the snow and hail has (hopefully) stopped for the season so she can really get her green thumb on!

Lantern Birthday

For: Kathy
Occasion: her birthday

I was feeling a little adventure-y when it came to Kathy's birthday card this year, so I created this drawing of an arm holding out a lantern. I love the warmth and the little lightning bugs all being pulled to the light. I hope Kathy and Alex are loving their new house and having a wonderful Minnesota summer!

Happy Flower Birthday

For: Karly
Occasion: her birthday

Karly is the epitome of a happy flower, so I drew this little friend for her to celebrate her birthday! I can't help but smile when I look at this. I hope Karls had the very best day and is enjoying the beautiful flowers in California!

Happy Birthday Swirl

For: Riley
Occasion: her birthday

To help celebrate Riley's birthday, I made a card with a repeating watercolor pattern in warm oranges, yellows, and reds around a "Happy Birthday!" wish. I think it looks very summery and fun. I hope Riley had a great day and is enjoying summer!

Data Anniversary

For: Michael
Occasion: Our Anniversary

Mike and I have been dating for over 6 years now, so to celebrate our dating anniversary, I did a drawing of Data from TNG (which we have been watching furiously) providing calculations of our time together: "In reference to your recent calculation, you have bene an Earth couple for exactly 2,190 days, or 52560 hours, or 3.154e^+6 minutes, which is exactly 1.892e^+8 seconds." I am a big fan of this card, and I'm a big fan of Mike too! Here's to the next 1.892e^+8 seconds as an Earth couple.

Pregnancy Hooray

For: Aimee and Scott
Occasion: Pregnancy

Aimee and Scott are expecting a little peanut in the fall, so to celebrate, I made this cheeky pregnancy card featuring a pickle and ice cream--the stereotypical pregnancy craving foods! It hasn't been the easiest pregnancy so far, but I'm sure baby girl will be worth all the struggle once she's here. Aimee and Scott are gonna be amazing parents and we can't wait to babysit!

Graduation Cap

For: Brenda
Occasion: Graduation

Brenda recently graduated with her MPH, and given how amazing that feat is while working full time, I wanted to celebrate with her! I cut out a polkadot mortar board and created my own tassel out of threat and stuck it to the card. I love how the card turned out, and I was so delighted to get tea with Brenda when she was out in Denver recently. Can't wait to see what's next for her!

Poppy Birthday

For: Lydia
Occasion: her birthday

To celebrate Lydia's birthday, I did a stylized watercolor of a poppy flower! I love the pairing on a red background and with the lovely yellow and green polka dotted paper. I hope Lydia had a great day and is enjoying wedding planning so far!
