Voz y Corazon Group

For: Voz y Corazon
Occasion: Greeting Card Group

I was invited to be a guest artist for a suicide prevention art group for young girls called Voz y Corazon (Voice and Heart). Using their group's name as inspiration, I created an image of two girl silhouettes speaking a heart. I used this card as an example for what we could do, and it was a real treat to see what the girls came up with! They will continue making cards and will donate a few to sell at their benefit in a few weeks.

I just love any opportunity to share my love of greeting cards with others!

Belly Bump Birthday

For: Jess
Occasion: her birthday

Jess really likes cats, so for her birthday, I created a playful watercolor of some cats belly bumping. She's a wonderfully quirky and wonderful lady, and I hope she had a great birthday!

Chevron Cupcake Birthday

For: Ceci
Occasion: her birthday

Since chevron is such a popular pattern right now, I wanted to use a new technique and make a new style of card for my stylish cousin, Ceci. I used painter's tape to lay the base for my chevron and then laid watercolor pains of yellows, pinks, purples, and oranges on top. Once that dried, I peeled off the tape and did a pen sketch of a cupcake on top. I love this card so much, and can't wait to have fun playing around with this new Debbie Dots style!

Backwards Birthday

For: Goober
Occasion: his birthday

Goober's a really smart guy, and for some reason that made me think of letterpresses (I recently read a book on the history of fonts, so that could be part of it too). Therefore! I created a the traditional "Happy Birthday" greeting backwards, which is how it would look if one were looking at the old-timey letterpress punches. I had fun making this card, and hope Goober-town had a great day!

Dandelion Birthday

For: Christina
Occasion: her birthday

Castellerbee is one of the coolest women I know, frequently taking jobs overseas and being adventurous in general. To honor that spirit, I created a watercolor of a little curly-haired lady (presumably Christina herself) floating through the air on a dandelion fluff. I love how this card turned out, and I hope to see Castelli sometime soon now that she's back stateside!

Floral Country Wedding

For: Makena and Stephen
Occasion: their wedding

Makena and Stephen had a beautiful rustic Colorado wedding yesterday. I had done their save the dates and was delighted to see the centerpieces matched the design! Anyway, in keeping with their wedding colors, I designed this lovely card with a watercolor floral ring (in the shape of an O for Osborne) and burned the edges of the watercolor for more country feel.

It was a lovely ceremony, Makena looked beautiful as always, and I was so happy to help celebrate their big day!
Here's a pic of Mike and I at the reception!

Bunny Birthday

For: Terra
Occasion: her birthday

Something about this spunky bunny make me think of Terra; maybe it's the sassy jacket or no-nonsense balloon that does it. Anyway, I miss Terra so much and hope she had a wonderful birthday!

Mom Flowers

For: Mommo
Occasion: Mother's Day

My mom is an expert gardener and she also loves the color orange. I combined the two for a floral and bright mother's day card this year! I hope someone made her breakfast and she got to work in her garden--may the seeds respond to her nurturing, mothering nature and grow up into beautiful plants she can be proud of!

Cat Sweater Birthday

For: Jess
Occasion: her birthday

Jess love cats. She loves crocheting. She loves hearts. I had no choice but to make her this card for her birthday. I also made this card a month early (Mike may or may not have told me her birthday was in April) so it's been sitting on her mantle for a month, with anticipation for her birthday building! I hope the card lived up to the hype, and I had a great time celebrating this weekend at Denver Beer Co.

Birdie Glasses Birthday

For: Lexi
Occasion: her birthday

Lexi is a smartie pants getting her PsyD in awesome, so I created a cute little bird with spectacles (why not? Something about it just struck me as Lexi-like). I miss her so much and hope she is doing great--I can't wait to email with her again soon!

Happy Bunny Birthday

For: Jen
Occasion: her birthday

My dear friend Jen makes me so, so happy, and I wanted to feature that feeling in her birthday card. To do that, I copied this ecstatic bunny/bunny hat combo to help celebrate Jen's big day. I think this card is adorable, and I hope Jen had a great day and that this card finds its way to her in Korea!

Candle Birthday

For: Luke
Occasion: his birthday

I saw this idea of candle-as-tally for a birthday card online, and I thought my rendition would be perfect for Luke's 18th birthday! This is such a clever design--I'd love to see more variations on this idea. I hope Luke had a great day and is getting pumped for summer and college in the fall!

Purple Flowers Birthday

For: Aunt Lauren
Occasion: her birthday

For Aunt Lauren's birthday, my uncle Tom requested a special birthday card from the Debbie Dots Enterprise! He gave me a bunch of ideas for what she likes, and I came up with a beautiful bunch of purple flowers! I love watercoloring flowers, and really like how these turned out. I hope Uncle Tom and Aunt Lauren had fun celebrating her birthday!

Umbrella Birthday

For: Aunt Kelly
Occasion: her birthday

Aunt Kelly's birthday is solidly situated in Spring, so I wanted to celebrate her birthday and the changing weather. I created a umbrella out of a text page in a book, piecing the sections of the umbrella together to give the umbrella some depth. There are flowers on top of the watercolor-y scene, and I love how the card turned out. I hope Aunt Kelly had a great day!

Shower with Love Bridal Shower Invites

For: Livingston
Occasion: her niece's bridal shower

My high school history teacher asked me to make shower invites for her niece, Abby. I was so excited to tackle this challenge because I love Livingston and her zest for life! I ended up creating a watercolor of Abby holding an umbrella with hearts falling all around her. I love how these turned out and it was so much fun to work with Livingston! I can't wait to hopefully see her this summer when she's out here for Abby's wedding.
