Unicorn Birthday

For: Emma
Occasion: her birthday

Sweet Emma turns 4 today! We got to celebrate her day yesterday with unicorns galore and sweet treats. I enjoyed playing Emma's version of cribbage wherein she won because it's her birthday! I hope she has a lot of fun this year and wins plenty of games!

3D Pizza Birthday

For: Dan
Occasion: his birthday

For Dan's birthday card, I played around with anaglyph pizza, meaning a red and blue one for each eye! It's meant to look like 3D images that need those glasses from back in the day. I am super pleased with this--it was such a challenge to try identical pizzas on top of each other and off by a centimeter. I hope Dan had a fantastic day and gets all the real pizza he could want this year.

1st Birthday

For: Maxwell
Occasion: his 1st birthday

Little Maxwell turned one! To celebrate his big day, I did a cartoon drawing of his cute face with a big plaid one to help round out the card. I hope this little guy had a great day and is ready for many more!

Cake Birthday

For: Helena
Occasion: her birthday

Aunt Helena is a master cake baker, so for her birthday card I did a watercolor of her having finished a beautiful cake! I am so pleased with how this card came out and am happy that she enjoyed it--here's to another year of baking adventures!

Elephant Birthday

For: Lily
Occasion: her birthday

Lily likes elephants too, so for her birthday I made a sweet little round elephant in a party hat! I paired it with some happy yellow and flowers to celebrate spring. I love how this card turned out, and I hope Lily had the best birthday!

Stetson Birthday

For: My dad
Occasion: his birthday

My dad got a really neat fedora-type hat recently, and since he looks so sharp in it, I wanted to feature  it for his birthday card! I'm pretty pleased with the cross-hatching and the watercolor shading that makes the hat look gray. Paired with a fun "Happy Birthday" message in block letters, this card is pretty snazzy. I love my dad so and hope he has the most incredible year.

Legendary Birthday

For: Kasicki
Occasion: his birthday

I got to reconnect with my high school English teacher/yearbook advisor recently and I remembered that his birthday is in April! Kasick came to the wedding and then we got to go skiing with him and his family back in Colorado after the festivities were over. I decided to do a pen sketch of some mountains and tucked it all inside an emblem and splashed on a "legendary" banner. I really hope Kasick has a great year and gets to go on all kinds adventures.

Hippo Birthday

For: Joel
Occasion: his birthday

For Joel's birthday card, I did a drawing of a hippo chilling in some water wearing a birthday hat. I love how the water lines turned out in this and how the card stock serves as the pool! This hippo is pretty aspirational for all of us on our birthdays, and I hope Joel had at least as chill of a day as this guy!

Cupcake Birthday

For: Shia
Occasion: his birthday

Shia told me all about how he loves cupcakes recently, so for his birthday card this year, I did a drawing of him ready to chow down on the biggest cupcake I've ever seen! I love how playful and rich these colors are--so smooth! Anyway, I hope Shi-Shi had an amazing birthday and gets plenty of reasons to celebrate this year.

Sewing Birthday

For: Mom
Occasion: her birthday

To celebrate my mom's birthday, I featured her hard at work on an old-timey sewing machine! She is sewing a heart into some orange fabric (her favorite color) and I paired the image with an orange card stock and a fun plaid paper. I am so pleased with how this card came out! Momma had a big year last year making the wedding dress--I hope she gets to make all kinds of fun things for herself this year.

Cool Birthday

For: JP
Occasion: his birthday

My cousin is a seriously cool guy and rocks an awesome style--for his birthday card I tried to simplify that down to its essence and--voila!--look how cool this card turned out! I am so pleased with this card and was so happy to get to see him at the wedding. I hope he's having a great spring and looking forward to a great year.

Flower Pitcher Birthday

For: Kathy
Occasion: her birthday

Kathy has done some awesome work for the HR team this year, so to celebrate her birthday I created a fun polka dotted vase filled with wild flowers. I love how the vase color is just off the card stock and the entire design is so springy and fun. Here's hoping Kathy has another great year!
