Foam Finger Birthday

What's more iconic to a sport's fan than a "we're number one!" foam finger? To celebrate Jackie's big day, I gave the hand a manicure in blue to rep Illinois and Da Bears. Whoever's being rooted for better win with how great this card looks! Jackie-town is just the best and I hope she had a wonderful birthday (huddled up inside, of course!). 

Record Player Birthday

For: Joe
Occasion: his birthday

Joe's a big music buff, so for his birthday card I did a stylized drawing of a record player. I'm loving the imperfect lines of the record how the silver pops on the black background. I hope Joe got to stay inside today and listen to some great records!

Musical Birthday

My cousin is an awesome music major, and to celebrate her birthday this year, I did a neat swirly sketch of music things! It includes some piano keys, music notes, sheet music, and stars and dots (as all good music does). Lyds is just the coolest and I'm so excited to see her in just a few months!

Alligator Birthday

For: Charlie

For Charlie's seventh (!) birthday, I drew him a silly alligator munching on a birthday cake! I'm digging the purple grass and green sky. It sounds like Charlie had the best birthday--we're looking forward to seeing the little man in a few months!

Polar Bear Birthday

Occasion: her birthday

For Lexi's birthday, I did an illustration of a cute polar bear in a party hat! I love the style of this sweet mama bear, and also am digging the gold/metallic background design. Lex is such an amazing friend and I was so delighted to celebrate with her and her family!

Gardening Birthday

For: Grandma Carol
Occasion: her birthday

My grandma is an excellent gardner! To celebrate her birthday this year, I did a watercolor of a lady in a floppy hat among a field of flowers. In the foreground, she's cultivating a plant in a small mound of dirt. I love how the leaves and the edges of the hat go outside the oval. I hope Grandma Carol has a lovely year full of adventure and calm. 

Weather Birthday

For: William
Occasion: his birthday

William is a big fan of all things meteorology, so for his birthday card this year, I did a week-long forecast of his birth week (and given that the party was a few weeks ago, it was an extended forecast!). Gotta love Denver's weather variety. It was super fun to hang with such a fun little dude and I hope we get to spend a lot of time together this year!

Flower Birthday

For Corinne's birthday, I did a pretty watercolor of brightly colored flowers. I am a big fan of the watercolor + pen detailing, and this card is basically why. Look how lovely! Corinne is such a delightful person and I hope she had the most wonderful day. 

Birdie Birthday

For Jada's birthday card, I did a watercolor of the cutest little birdie I could imagine with wings in Jada's signature color: robin's egg blue. How sweet is this little guy? I hope Jada likes her card and has a wonderful day!

Tree Birthday

For Uncle Vince's birthday card this year, I was feeling a major tree vibe--in part because he had lived on the block I grew up on before my family moved there. The story goes that he planted planted a tree in our old neighborhood (or at least that's how I remember it). Trees are also rich in metaphor for growth and stability -- and as UV and I are kindred spirits in metaphor and meaning, I couldn't not once I thought of it. I hope Uncle Vince's day was amazing and that this year is incredible. 

Our Save the Date

I am the biggest fan of our Save the Date. It has been my phone background for over a year at this point, and the original is framed in our house. I had such fun drawing this -- trying to capture his smile and the curves of our faces -- and it really looks like us! We are getting close to the big day now, I almost can't believe I created this a year and a half ago!
