To celebrate Alli's birthday this year, I drew the most vibrant ice cream cone I could (with a cherry on top!). I hope Alli had a wonderful birthday and is looking forward to some tasty treats at The Guzzle next week!
To celebrate Zach's birthday this year, I did a throw-back to college and featured a French Press! I found mine again recently and have been enjoying many a decaf coffee these days. Zach was the first to introduce me to this delightful contraption, and so my trip down memory lane results in a birthday card theme! I hope Zach had an awesome day and is enjoying summer.
For Eileen's birthday, I did a bright floral design to help her celebrate her big day! Eileen is a very cool young lady and I hope The Universe conspired to help her have a well-deserved and wonderful birthday.
Becky loves being out on the boat at Lake Shelbyville, so to celebrate her birthday, I did a gouache painting of a bright yellow tube on the lake! I miss Becky so much and hope she has gotten to have lots and lots of fun this summer while staying safe!
My dad recently got a new lawn mower that is a super-light high-tech almost space machine of grass-clipping power! To help him celebrate Father's Day, I imagined him cutting "Dad" into the lawn just for fun. I adore my dad so, and can't wait until I can see him again soon!
Dan is an avid do-er of crosswords, so for his Father's Day card this year, I featured a puzzle and linked together the words "Happy," "Fathers," and "Day!" I am really pleased with how this card turned out, and I hope the Keane Paterfamilias had a wonderful day.
To help Nathan celebrate Father's Day this year, I made a drawing of double popsicles to represent his two sons--Adam and Owen! Paired with a "Hey, Pops!" message, this is a pretty clever card idea, if I do say so myself. I hope Nathan had a lovely day and got to enjoy some tasty treats!
To celebrate Baby G's first birthday, I made a papercut bunny that I glued onto some paper, along with a big ol' 1, that I then sewed onto the card stock! Giuliana is just the sweetest and it was so fun participating in her drive-by birthday parade!
To celebrate Jackson's birthday, I sewed him four mountains onto a birthday card! I cannot believe this little bud is already four years old. I hope he had an awesome birthday and is enjoying summer up in the high country!
Will loves to do Tai Chi, and helps out a lot in his Tai Chi society. For his birthday card, I did a watercolor and ink illustration of Will doing some moves! This card makes me way happier than it should, and I feel like it really captured the calm and playful side of Will. I miss him a lot and hope he had a wonderful birthday!
Nathan has the funnest game ever from his childhood, called Tornado Rex. For his birthday card this year, I created an illustration of the eponymous character, doing his thing! Nathan is just the coolest brother-in-law a girl could ask for, and knows all about all sorts of board games. I miss him so and hope he had a wonderful birthday!
If I'm making her friends poop cards, I have to make Lids her very own special poop card! Hers features cartoon-y versions of both doctor and happy little poop. Her clipboard says "UMASS GI - CONGRATS LIDIA!" I miss Lids so much and hope she's doing well out in Massachusetts.
Four of Lidia's doctor pals are wrapping up their GI fellowship! She asked me to make them some poop-themed graduation cards (it is a GI fellowship, afterall), so I adapted the ever-present poop emoji to have a graduation cap and be nestled up in a toilet paper roll (which seemed timely, given 2020's mass TP hysteria).
It's always fun to make cards for friends (and friends of friends!)
For Kathy's birthday card, I did a paper cut of a bubbly butterfly! Kathy is in the throes of being a new mom, so I wanted to make her something light and fun to celebrate her day. I hope it was wonderful and that she got some rest and relaxation in between momming duties!
To celebrate Riley's birthday, I did a warm splash of red, orange, and yellow watercolor on a red card stock with a cupcake illustration on top! I hope Riley had a great birthday and got lots of tasty treats for her big day!
Karly is a lovely ray of sunshine, so to celebrate her birthday I did a watercolor of her happy face among a sea of watercolor flowers. This is just such a lovely dream and I hope it helped Karly have a magical day.
To celebrate Marilynne's birthday, I did a watercolor of an elephant! She and I are big fans of these wonderful creatures, and given that we share elephant pictures and articles, it seemed appropriate! I miss Marilynne a bunch and hope she had a great day.
Mike and I have been together for seven years now! That is mind-boggling and wonderful, so to celebrate this accomplishment, I did a cartoon of the two of us scratching 7-year itches. Of course, we've only been married for just over a year, so we've got a while before the "real" seven year itch strikes--but these first seven have been lots of goofy fun!
