Bee in Balloon Birthday

For: Tommy

Once upon a time, I imagined that in order to take a pet bumble bee for a walk, one would have to transport it in a balloon. When I was trying to think of ideas for Tommy's birthday card, this memory came back to me, and I figured Tommy might appreciate it! I added a party hat for some birthday flair -- and the balloon is already very festive! This card was really fun to make and I hope Tommy got some joy out of it on his birthday. 

Sewed Cake Birthday

For: Aunt Mary

Occasion: her birthday

For Aunt Mary's birthday card this year, I sewed some patterned paper together to form a birthday cake with a candle! Aunt Mary is very crafty, so I figured she would appreciate this particularly crafty design. I hope she is doing well out in Texas and working on lots of projects!

Wildflower Birthday

For: Gina

Occasion: her birthday

To celebrate the free spirit that is Gina, I created a field of wild flowers in white ink. I love this style! I hope Gina had a delightful birthday and I'm so glad she got to go backpacking over her big day!

Shiney Birthday

For: Augie

To celebrate Augie's birthday this year, I did a stylized drawing of him with a shine in his smile and glasses to indicate just how cool he is! I love the simplicity of the blues with the quick flashes of white to bring it all together. I hope Augie enjoyed the card and had a great birthday!

Cactus Birthday

For: John

For John's birthday card this year, I did a gouache painting of a happy cactus with a party hat on its crown and each arm (real cactus anatomy terms, people). This is the friendliest spiky plant I've ever seen. I hope John had a wonderful day that kicks off an awesome year for him!

Butterfly Birthday

For Kim's birthday card this year, I did a watercolor of a butterfly just hanging out on a pretty flower. Kim lives up in the mountains and gets to see all kinds of beauty all around her--I hope this card added just a little more!

Balloon Birthday

For: Brenda

While getting ready to make Brenda's birthday card, I was thinking about all the feelings that are happening at this moment in time. But, to put a birthday spin on that though, I did a drawing of a woman holding a bunch of balloons in various shades of happy! Brenda is just the coolest, and I hope she had lots of different joyful feelings on her big day.

Swirly Birthday

For: Uncle Tom

Occasion: his birthday

For Uncle Tom's birthday card, I used different color markers to make several concentric circles that all overlap and create a really neat pattern! I then wrote a simple "Happy Birthday" message and outlined it in white so it can be read among the organized chaos. I miss Uncle Tom a lot and hope he had a wonderful day!

Bird Birthday

For: Sandie

Occasion: her birthday

To celebrate Sandie's birthday this year, I drew an interesting looking pink bird in a party hat! Sandie is hoping to get to Hawaii later this summer if it's safe to do so, and so I imagine this little guy is looking west and ready to take off! Sandie is just the best and I hope this year treats her well.
