I had the real pleasure of hanging out with Scott and Theresa in May, and I learned so much about Scott! For this birthday card, I did an illustration of train tracks in an S shape coming out of a coffee cup and with a train among the trees, stars, moon, and sun! I hope Scott enjoyed the card and had a wonderful day!

Sparkle Birthday

For: Renee

Occasion: her birthday

Renee has become an incredible friend to me these past months, and is also the owner of several sparkly shoes! To celebrate her birthday, I got my shiny papers and some scissors and made a sweet collage of my sweet friend. I hope her day is full of glitter and her year is everything she needs it to be!

Banana Birthday

 For: The Twin
Occasion: Our Birthday

For Twin's birthday card this year, I did an illustration of two bananas who are a little past their prime (but oh so happy!). The text reads, "In Banana years, we're Bread!" I giggled so much making this card and then Twin giggled so much receiving it, I am beyond pleased about the whole experience. I love the twin so much and can't wait to see her soon!

Hiking Dinosaur Birthday

 For: Bodhi
Occasion: his birthday

Little Bodhi is two now! For his birthday card, I created an illustration of a dinosaur on a hiking trail in the mountains. I have been so delighted to run into Bodhi and fam this year around town and in the mountains! Here's hoping the next year is incredible and full of adventures!

Citrus Birthday

 For: Bridget
Occasion: her birthday

To help Bridget celebrate her birthday, I drew a zoomed-in illustration of slices of citrus to try to capture some last glimpses of summer fun. I hope Bridget had a lovely day and is looking forward to the next year!

Beer Birthday

 For: Uncle Greg
Occasion: his birthday

For Uncle Greg's birthday card, I did an illustration of a beer in a frosty mug with a candle in the foam! I like the depth in this card with some very subtle shadow-work on the glass. I hope Uncle Greg had some tasty brews to help celebrate his big day!

Chef Birthday

 For: Uncle Steve
Occasion: his birthday

Uncle Steve is a gourmand and chef and all-around foodie! To celebrate his birthday, I did a stylized illustration of a chef who is quite pleased with his creation AND wearing a party hat on his chef's hat. I hope Uncle Steve has an incredible meal to help celebrate his day!

Pumped Birthday

 For: Marcellus
Occasion: his birthday

For Marcellus's inaugural birthday card, I did an illustration of a Marcellus-type character lifting a bar so heavy that it's bending! The text reads "So Pumped!" and I love the idea of him wearing a party hat at the gym while lifting. Marcellus is such a lovely human -- I hope he has an amazing birthday and gets all the gains he's looking for this year!

Phone Thank You

 For: The Kadlecs
Occasion: Thank You

The Kadlecs came to visit us over Labor Day weekend, and we had a lot of fun! We played a game where you have to get your team to describe a word/phrase; I featured a phone with "Thank You" as the word to guess! It's so lovely to see family and we hope we have more visitors soon!

Balderdash Thank You

Aunt Glor and Uncle Vince came out to visit Mike and I for a truly glorious weekend of Colorado camaraderie! We had all the fun in the world, including playing the hilarious game Balderdash. I created a card from the game that has examples of the definitions that the silly-sounding words that would be on the front. The definitions include highlights of the visit: Compelling conversation, A week of delicious meals, Exploring and responding to nature, Fake definitions, Uproarious laughter. We had an amazing time and cannot wait to see them again soon!

Tea Birthday

 For: Sarah
Occasion: her birthday

Sarah loves tea, so for her birthday card this year, I created a teacup and saucer and cut the paper so one packet of one of her favorite teas could slip right in! I adore my Sarah so and hope she has the loveliest day. 

Boggle Birthday

 For: Mike
Occasion: his birthday

Mike and I have been super into playing Boggle lately, so for his birthday card this year, I created a Boggle board that spells out "Happy" and "Birthday" and "Mike"! It's just the right number of letters with a shared Y -- I worked really hard to figure out the placements and am just pleased as punch. I adore my sweet Michael and hope this next year is full of lots of games and fun!

Waddles Birthday

 For: Ellie
Occasion: her birthday

Ellie and her dad helped introduce me to the very best cartoon ever, Gravity Falls! It features a hilarious cast of characters, including this goofy pig, Waddles. I dressed Waddles up in a party hat to help Ellie celebrate her big day! This card was a lot of fun to make and I can't wait to play with her again soon!
