For Tommy's birthday card, I was feeling a flame vibe, so I landed on an illustration of a match. I really like how the match style contrasts to the whimsical flames. Tommy is a super interesting person, and I hope he enjoyed his birthday!

Tea Birthday

For: Aunt Mary
Occasion: her birthday

Aunt Mary is the biggest fan of tea I have ever known, so for her birthday card this year, I did a watercolor of a full tea cup that included a lot of neat shading effects. I am really pleased with how it turned out, and I hope Aunt Mary had the best day! (A big thank you to her for sending me this pic as well!) 

Zombie Birthday

For: Lucia
Occasion: her birthday

Lucia is a big fan of creepy stuff, so for her birthday card this year, I drew a little zombie wearing a party hat! It's so creepy and bizarre, but Lucia loved it! I hope she has a great year this year.

Humming Bird Thank You

For: The Rings
Occasion: Thank You

The Rings invited us for a weekend at the cabin they rented in July. There were lots of humming birds on the deck, and we all had a great time watching them buzz around. To thank the Rings for their hospitality, I drew a hummingbird mid flight with a swirly "Thank You" message floating nearby. We were so happy to get some time away and were very grateful for the opportunity!

A Shape Birthday

For: Augie
Occasion: his birthday

Augie's initials are AA (which occurred to me as I was brainstorming for this card) and so I decided to play with the idea and came up with this optical illusion A shape design for his card. It's pretty high concept and I got lost in following the shape of the As as I was making it. I hope Augs didn't get too tripped out and enjoyed his day!

Engagement Sunset

For: Theresa and Scott
Occasion: Their Engagement

Theresa and Scott got engaged, and to celebrate this next step on their journey together, I created a watercolor of the two of them watching the sunset wrapped in a blue blanket. I am so happy that Theresa has found her companion on the path. 

Spiderman Birthday

For: John
Occasion: his birthday

To celebrate John's birthday, I created this fun illustration of Spider Man hanging from a birthday balloon! John was a big Spider Man fan when he was younger, and given all the new movies and how much I loved Into the Spider-Verse, there was no avoiding a spidey card. I hope John had a wonderful birthday and is enjoying summer in Texas!

Sympathy Flower

For: Janet
Occasion: In Sympathy

Grandpa Jack passed away in late June, and so to honor his 97 years and the incredible life he fit into that time, I painted this ephemeral flower to pair with my sympathy message. These cards are never easy to create, but I really wanted to let Janet know how sorry we are for her loss and what an incredible daughter she has been to both Dotty and Jack. 

Sympathy Field

For: Uncle Bruce
Occasion: In Sympathy

Uncle Bruce has been incredible caring for his aging parents in the past many years, and so with Grandpa Jack's passing, I wanted to share how sorry we are that Bruce lost his father. I ended up creating a whimsical field in watercolor and paired it with a swirly font with gold accents. It's so hard to lose someone you love and care for--we hope Bruce is feeling loved and supported in this time. 

Hoppy Birthday

For: Kim
Occasion: her birthday

Kim is a big fan of frogs, so for her birthday card I painted the silliest, happiest frog I could muster! He is shouting out a "Hoppy Birthday" message because sometimes, I can't resist a pun. Kim is a real delight and I'm so pumped that we will get to work more closely as our training department develops at work!

Flowers Birthday

For: Brenda
Occasion: her birthday

For Brenda's birthday card, I did lots of paintings of different bright flowers, and these were the ones I landed on -- colorful and elegant. Brenda is such a wonderful friend and I am so pleased to know her (and to continue to be in touch!). I hope Brenda had a beautiful birthday!

Circle Line Birthday

For: Uncle Tom
Occasion: his birthday

To celebrate Uncle Tom's birthday, I busted out my thin sharpies and made lines into circles and laid them over each other and paired it all with some simple fonts! I love how this turned out and hope to play with the concept more. Uncle Tom is just the best and I hope he enjoyed his day!

Cat Birthday

For Sandie's birthday, I was feeling major cat vibes that culminated in this yellow-eyed buddy. I love how simple it is, and how fun the party hat makes the entire scene! Sandie is an exceptionally delightful human, and I hope she had a wonderful birthday.
