A loved one had a pretty significant surgery, so to wish them well on their recovery, I drew a sweet little turtle on its shell. The text reads, "Hope you're back on your feet soon!" I was so pleased to hear surgery went well and they are doing great!

Fairy Birthday

Occasion: her birthday

Little miss Dottie Jon came early last year to try to participate in the Tulip and Fairy festival, so for her birthday card this year I drew our precious little bean as a birthday fairy! She is such a fun kiddo and I can't wait to play with her and swim a lot at the pool this summer!

Birthday Letters

Occasion: his birthday

For Mark's birthday card, I drew out some block letters on a black background that made the color really pop! I like how it takes some effort to read and hoe the colors kind of make a line. I hope Mark has a great day!

Hiking Birthday

For Emma's birthday card, I drew an illustration of her on a hike in her home state of Colorado carrying a flower! This card turned out so cute and I think I really captured her likeness. I hope Emma has a great day and gets to go on lots of fun hikes this year!

Camera Birthday

Anna is an artist, and once upon many years ago, her birthday card featuring a camera didn't make it to her in Italy! I drew her this lovely camera to try to make up for it, and love the goofiness of an eye in the lens paired with a party hat. Are we supposed to be scared? Suspicious? Happy? All of the above for Anna's big day -- I hope she is doing great and having a wonderful spring so far!

Lego Man Birthday

For Max's birthday card, I featured a classic yellow lego man with a party hat accessory! I had so much fun making this collage and adding the white shine details -- it was also my first card out of my new art studio! I can't wait to hang out with Max again this summer and hope he has the best day!

Fish Birthday

For Dan's birthday card this year, I drew him the goofiest fish in a party hat and with a balloon on a hook (such a fun detail). I hope Dan has a great birthday and is looking forward to lots of fun (and maybe some fishing!?) this year. 

April Flowers Birthday

To celebrate Helena's birthday this year, I drew her the birth flowers (daisy and sweet pea) in a sort of vintage style. I am really pleased with how this card came out and hope she has a wonderful day and spring!

Leather Birthday

My dad has become a master leather-crafter! For his birthday card this year, I drew a picture of him hard at work on a project and added in a fun pun: "it's your day... leather you like it or knot!" Still having fun with my hand-drawn fonts, I punched up both 'leather' and 'knot' for the design. I love my dad so and hope he gets up to all kinds of craftiness this year!

For Joel's birthday card, I did an illustration of some cool, wavy water with a fish on a line. The punny text that ties it all together reads "Hope your day is off the hook!" May the next year be filled with fun adventures and great catches!

Phantom Tollbooth Birthday

My mom has always been a pretty big fan of The Phantom Tollbooth, so for her birthday card this year I did an illustration of the iconic cover art featuring Milo and Tock (with the addition of party hats). It was so funny to learn that she had just been talking to Adam and Owen about the story just days before this card showed up! I love my mom and hope she has the best day. 

Crowdsurfing Birthday

Kasicki loves a concert, so for his birthday card this year I drew a wild crowd having a great time at a show! I love how this card came out as I've never done anything quite like this before. Kasicki has been a wonderful friend to me over the years and I can't wait to see him again soon!

Mario Birthday

Shia is pretty epic at Mario Kart, so for his birthday card I drew a Mario celebrating a victory with his famous "Wa-hoo!" I had a lot of fun trying to get the character recognizable and matching the colors from the franchise. I hope Shia has an amazing birthday and is looking forward to a year of adventure!

Music Birthday

For JP's birthday card, I copied down some music notes to spell out "happy birthday to you" with white pen on black cardstock to make it really pop. I hope it helped JP have an awesome day to kick off a musical year!

Ping Pong Birthday

Mollie and Colin have a ping pong table in their basement! To celebrate Colin's birthday (and his inaugural Debbie Dots card), I did an illustration of Nancy Pants and Moose playing a match. I love this card so much (particularly the shadow detail from the ball) and hope Colin has just the best birthday!

Still leaning heavily into hand-drawn fonts, I made this fun "Young Wild & Three" birthday card for sweet Gio! I am thrilled with the '70s vibe and how fun it was to follow the swirly lines. I cannot wait for this little dude to move back to CO and hang out with me this year!
