To help Carson celebrate her big day, I created a watery scene with some bright fishies in party hats! I figured her little family might appreciate the pun. I miss Carson a lot and hope all is well in her world. 

Cannon Beach Birthday

Occasion: her birthday

Jen moved to Oregon, and so to celebrate her most recent adventure, I did a stylized illustration of Cannon Beach! We had a wonderful time exploring that area at a conference a few years ago and I am envious that she gets to spend so much time there. The text reads "To another year of adventure!" I miss my Jen so and can't wait for when I can go visit her on the coast!

Win is a connoisseur of vino, so for her birthday card this year I created a simple glass of red with a silver heart charm to claim it as hers. The text reads "cheers on your birthday!" I adore my Win and hope this year is full of relaxation and joy! 

Retirement Chair

Occasion: her retirement

After all these years, Marilynne got to retire! To celebrate this feat, I did a sweet illustration of a happy little yellow friend kicking her feet up, basking in her success! The cut out letters read, "You did it!" I am so impressed with Marilynne's perseverance and can't wait to hang out in this post-work chapter of her life!

To help celebrate the incredible gift that Rosemerry is to the world, I created a watercolor and ink illustration for her birthday, featuring her on the left connecting to mountains and trees in a single line. I wanted to try to capture interconnectedness as a theme of the card, and I hope she appreciated the poetics of the effort! Here's hoping she has an incredible year of exploration.

To help celebrate Maddie's birthday this year, I drew here the happiest little cup o' joe holding a piece of cake and a balloon and wearing a party hat! This is such a pleasant image for a fall birthday. Here's hoping she has an incredibly pleasant day!

Halloween Eyes

 For: Adam and Owen
Occasion: Halloween

For Adam and Owen's Halloween card this year, I fit in as many spooky eyes as I could! Every letter of "Happy Halloween" has a pair (and it's laid out in a Jack-o-lantern shape) along with a handful of other watching creatures. I hear they counted the total number of eyes, which delights me to no end -- Auntie Twin loves educational cards! Here's hoping the little nephs have the best day ever!

Wine Balloon Birthday

 For: Alyssa
Occasion: her birthday

For Alyssa's birthday, I drew her a collection of wine glasses as balloons! I think this card is a super fun concept, and I enjoyed filling the wine glasses with different colors and then giving them some shine. I hope Alyssa has a wonderful day and gets to relax and celebrate!

Desert Collage Birthday

Occasion: her birthday

Theresa loves to do soul collage and recently moved to New Mexico! For her birthday card this year, I tried out some collage of my own, playing with a hiking boot, hat, cat, bird, light heart, desert heart and crane. It was a total blast making this card, and I hope Theresa has an amazing year of adventure and exploration!

Blackjack Birthday

For: Uncle Jim
Occasion: his birthday

Uncle Jim taught me Blackjack over the summer, so for his birthday card I made some playing cards featuring a wining hand -- an Ace and a King (in the heart suit for love, of course!). After I dropped the card in the mail, I realized I could have used a Jack, which would have made sense with his initials -- as with gambling and card-making, you live and learn!

Robot Birthday

For: Tom
Occasion: his birthday

For Tom's birthday card, I drew a robot serenading him with a birthday song: "Happy Birthday, Dear Tom-Tom!" As ever, I appreciate the absurdity of Tom's cards and have so appreciated that we have gotten to see each other as much as we have in the past few years -- here's hoping to more visits this year!

To help Lidia celebrate her birthday, I made a card honoring the entire month! The text reads, "Happy Birth-day Month!" with 'day' crossed out. It was such a treat to see Lidia during the birth month and help celebrate with her!
