Coloring Card

My little bee turned four last weekend--I can't believe it! I have a great time making birthday cards, and I decided to make her birthday card a coloring page to make sure she could share in the fun. I hope she had a great day and I can't wait to see her soon!

Poirot Birthday

For: Ames
Occasion: her birthday

Amy is a big fan of the TV show based on Agatha Christie's Hercule Poirot. He's got such an interesting face in the show that I wanted to give him a try in watercolor. The results are the above, with the following Poirot-ian thought: "I think that it is strange, the cake itself having had one fewer candle just one year before..."

I hope Ames had a great day and this year is the best one yet!

Mountain Bike Birthday

For: O'Shea
Occasion: his birthday

O'Shea likes to mountain bike, so for his birthday, I created my first ever watercolor mountain bike scene! He's riding through a rocky trail with some high ridges and looks pretty cool doing it. With the give-away red hair, you can totally tell its O'Shea. I hope he had a great day and I was happy to help make the infamous birthday cake for him!

New Baby Stork

For: Tommy and Traci
Occasion: New Baby

There's a new Webb baby in the world! To celebrate baby Maxwell's arrival, I created a simple watercolor of a stork carrying the bundle of joy through a clouded sky. Maxwell is my first  first cousin once removed, and I look forward to meeting him and figuring out who we are to each other. 

Ocean Birthday

For: Julie
Occasion: her birthday

Julie lives in California and gets to hang out on the beach! I created this sunset of the ocean with a whale tail in the distance and a birthday gift on shore.  It looks very relaxing. I hope Julie had a great day and is enjoying planning her wedding!

Maze Birthday

Occasion: his birthday

For Jeremy's card, I decided to make a maze that has a birthday cake hidden in the middle of it. Can you get to the cake? This card just got returned to me in the mail, so the card itself did not complete its own maze...round two soon and sorry for the belated!

Sailor Birthday

For: Uncle Brian
Occasion: his birthday

For my uncle's birthday card, I created a playful soldier sketch with some birthday-themed tattoos. Matched with some funky papers and some basic block lettering, I think this card looks pretty swell. I hope Uncle Bri had a great day!

Name Birthday

For: Rukiyah
Occasion: her belated

Rukiyah is one of the most colorful people I've ever known. To celebrate her birthday (and really, just to celebrate her since the card is so late), I used a typeface with intertwined features to add more fun and color to the card. With splashes of watercolor and brightly-colored chevron papers, this card is so happy it's perfect for Rukiyah! I hope she is doing well in Japan and enjoying life!

Cheese Grater Valentine

For: Michael

Occasion: Valentine's Day

Mike is the resident cheese grater in our house. For his valentine, I featured a grater with heart-shaped holes. The cheese is also heart-shaped! The text reads, "Michael, you're the gratest!" I love cooking with Mike so much, and I love him so much more!

Parisian Valentine

For: Mom and Dad
Occasion: Valentine's Day

My parents went to Paris this summer (which had been a lifelong dream of my mom's), so to honor their trip to the city of love, I recreated a watercolor of the iconic Metro signs that reads "love" instead. There's an Eiffel tower in the background with some heart garland floating through the streets. I really like how this turned out, and I hope they had a great Valentine's Day!

Dominion Valentine

For: Nathan and Christy

Occasion: Valentine's Day

Twin, Nathan, Mike and I play the funnest game in the world called Dominion! It's a deck-building game where the cards have different abilities to help you build your own Dominion. It's elaborate and fun and you should play! For the Curry valentine this year, I created a new action card, called the Valentine. It allows you two actions, one hug, and two heart points. It also costs two heart points. What a great deal! Here's what the "real" deck cards look like:

Archery Valentine

For: Amy
Occasion: Valentine's Day

Amy loves archery, so I thought I'd play up this hobby in her valentine this year! There's a happy quiver with some arrows, a bow, and one of the arrows featuring it's heart-shaped arrowhead. I hope Ames had a great day and got out to the archery range!
